Bayt Alriyh is a arabic word for "The House of the Wind". The house for the Emirati is located in the context of the Old and New Dubai in a narrow site of 15m x 30m. Borrowing from the ideas of the courtyard, the house is carved in the site having multiple open-close relationship between functional spaces and nature. The heirarchy of spaces is attained through levels and depth of the site. As one moves within the site designated spaces like Majlis and Garage (semi public), followed by Living Area, Dining and Kitchen (semi private), then followed by Bedroom which are the private area of the house.
The planned site is conceptualised at 2 different levels. One at ground level and another below it at a depth of half a level. The idea of building an un-derground level is to attain a low profile structure which woud ensure privacy and minimizes the impact of external environment. Given frequent dust storms in Dubai, having a low height structure would facilitate easier mainte-nance of the property
